For this role, the inspector will be able to accept assignments based on an adjustable radius from a specified location determined by the inspector.
This role will be performing field inspections of a homeowner’s property where they have filed a property damage claim with their insurance company. Typical claims range from a wind claim to a fallen tree claim. Inspections last an average of 1-2 hours. You will be given access to patented program that allows you to use your smartphone or tablet to connect through a video conference to a licensed insurance adjuster at our client’s location during your inspection so they can complete an estimate for the insured party. The adjuster reviews the claimed damage through your smartphone or tablet’s camera and the inspector will provide measurements and additional details of damage to assist the adjuster. Most inspections will require access the roof of the home to perform a visual inspection to test shingle integrity and take photographs. This role only requires the inspector to provide supporting information to assist the adjuster. Once the inspection is complete, the inspector’s assignment is closed.
No licensing or certifications are currently required for this role. Rope and harness certifications for accessing multi-story or high pitch roofs may be be beneficial to the inspector.
- High School Diploma
- Customer Service experience preferred
- Contracting or roof experience preferred (or being comfortable accessing a roof)
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
- Professional attire (khakis and a polo shirt)
- Tape measure
- 28-foot ladder (and any additional equipment needed to access up to a 2-story roof, such as a safety harness)
- Sidewalk chalk (to mark potential roof damage)
- Smartphone or tablet with cellular access that can support video chat and transportation on site
- Any additional equipment that may assist with completing inspections
There are many that are uncomfortable with accessing a roof. Our client may require accessing a roof in order to complete the inspection. Inspectors may bring a companion to inspection sites to complete roof assessments if needed, but the companion must maintain quality standards. Roof inspections may also require measurements if there are present damages. Inspectors have full autonomy to complete assignments as they wish if quality standards are adhered to.
